Laughing Dog Yoga Workshops

Workshops are a wonderful way to enhance your knowledge, deepen your dedication, come together in community and grow your practice.
They also involve a significant financial commitment – which given budgetary responsibility may be difficult to justify. That said, we do not want anyone to miss out on any workshop they may want to attend – they are just too valuable. So, for all workshops, we offer scholarships and a sliding scale for those in need. Please contact studio to apply.

Registration Policy: It is fine to sign up for Early Bird Discount and still pay the day of the workshop IF you definitely plan to attend.

Cancellation Policy: 48 hours notice required to cancel for full refund (minus administrative fee). Last minute cancellations cannot be refunded. If you were planning to pay the day of the workshop, it is still necessary to pay. Thank you for honoring this policy.

SHAKTI YOGA DANCES

Dancing the Mat with Heart
w/ Samantha Cameron

Sun. 2/12, 2-4p
$20 advance sign up / $25 at the door

To REGISTER: email info@ldyoga.com or sign up at studio

SHAKTI YOGA DANCES are Asanas that dance the mat. Choreographed to wonderful music, yoga poses are linked and repeated as a dance, layering movement to breath and opening the emotional rhythms of the heart. Within many layers of the dances are seasonal Ayurvedic and Astrologic under-tones, sacred poetry, chant, mudra, and Pranayama.

This Valentine weekend we will open the physical and subtle heart-bodies as we move, breathe and dance the mat. The best part? - No dance experience needed, no musicality, nothing beyond a year of practice, and the willingness to explore what Yoga can be. "Come join the dance," as the walrus sang…. beckon your muse to the mat.

Workshop Format: Opening-circle of invitation and intention; learn the mudras, chants, Pranayama and energies behind each dance; a Vinyasa flow warm-up, incorporating some of the Asana links and combinations. Two to three yoga dances are repeated until the flow feels comfortable, and joyous. Closure with cooling poses, in a circle of conversation, moves the body home to Savasana.

Samantha Cameron, Vinyasa Flow Yoga instructor, choreographer, dance instructor and astrologer, offers her students the excitement of exploring their practice in physically demanding and safe classes. She incorporates wide-ranging interests and experience to inspire and construct unique, welcoming spaces for individuals to examine and discover their own possibilities. Class emphasis is on emotional, physical, mental and spiritual self-care through Asana, chanting, mudra, & Pranayama.

Sunday ~ 4-6p
1/8, 1/22, 2/26, 3/11, 4/1, 4/29

$30/class

Join Kate or Hanspal Kaur Khalsa for a monthly practice to inspire your yoga. Kate invites students to listen for their own source of inspiration and to move from the inside out. Drawing from a blend of Vinyasa, Anusara and Kundalini Yoga, her classes combine fluid movement, precise alignment and an appreciation for the infinite within the finite.

Whether you are a yoga teacher, an avid student, or just looking to brighten your Sunday afternoon, Kate offers yoga in a way that is playful and welcoming - both accessible and challenging to all. Each month's class will be themed for a particular category of postures and coupled with pranayama, meditation and chanting. The joy that we discover on the mat is a small reflection of the tremendous spirit we all possess; the real work begins in translating those smaller epiphanies into our everyday lives.

Kate's greatest hope is for her students to see their own limitless capacity of the heart and to share that with others. She hopes to see you one Sunday, or perhaps every month!

Kate or Hanspal Kaur tries to offer from her heart in everything she does. Kate is a senior teacher based in Boston, where she teaches public classes, workshops, retreats and teacher trainings. Trained in Vinyasa, Anusara and Kundalini Yoga, she now studies with Scott Blossom, Chandra Easton and Matt Pesendian. Along with her husband, Richmond Dickson, Kate founded Open Hearts, a traveling yoga school that offers retreats and teacher trainings both domestically and abroad. Many have wanted to begin or cultivate a meditation practice. In fact, due to the nature of our busy, sometimes hectic lives, it is in many ways essential to our health and well being. Much research has recently been conducted that shows the beneficial effects of meditation. Join Chas for a monthly Insight Mediation series. We will meet once a month to learn, practice and explore the art and science of meditation.

Vipassana or Insight Meditation is a simple, yet profound meditation practice that has the ability to transform how we experience the world. Through the cultivation of moment-to-moment awareness, life is seen how it actually is, not how we think it is, or want it to be. We discover that it is possible to have a more harmonious relationship both personally and with the world around us. This understanding has a profound effect on our lives. It is the catalyst that allows us to let go of the thoughts and behaviors that get in the way of true happiness. The ease, the peace, of this state, is where our hearts can begin to finely come to rest.

During these monthly 2 hr classes such questions as: What is the purpose of Meditation? What are the benefits of Meditation? and of course, how to meditate will be explored. The type of meditation being offered is called Vipassana, which translates into “seeing clearly” and comes from the 2,500 year old Buddhist Meditation traditions of South East Asia. Students will be given instruction in Sitting, Standing and Walking Meditation. There will always be ample time for questions and discussion, although the main thrust of each class will be experiential – practice, practice, practice!

Suggested Donation ~ These teaching are given free of charge as is the custom passed on by previous teachers. In Asia, meditation masters are supported by the community. Here in America, their livelihood is supported by donations. We will have a basket set out for this intention. Please give freely, what ever you are able, in exchange for these teachings.

Chas DiCapua has been practicing mindfulness and Buddhist meditation, primarily in the Theravada school, for over 20 years. He has trained with Burmese meditation masters, western monastics of the Thai Forest tradition and senior western Vipassana teachers. Chas has spent over 2 years of combined time in silent, intensive retreat. In 2003 Chas was invited to be the Resident Teacher at the Insight Meditation Society where he continues to serve in that role. Chas is a graduate of the four year joint Insight Meditation Society / Spirit Rock Teacher Training Program led by Jack Kornfield, Joseph Goldstein and others. He is interested in how the basic material of our everyday lives, including relationships, can be used as a vehicle for awakening. Chas teaches retreats at IMS, at various centers and sanghas throughout the country, and offers Spiritual Counseling for individuals.
